Mandate

The Finance Department is entrusted with managing the financial resources of the Algonquins of Barriere Lake in a way that ensures long-term economic stability and community growth. This includes overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, compliance with funding agreements, and maintaining fiscal discipline. Through transparent and accountable practices, the department supports the leadership in delivering essential programs and services, while reflecting the Nation’s cultural values and principles in all financial decision-making.

Our vision is to cultivate a financially strong and self-reliant community, where all financial strategies and operations are guided by integrity, sustainability, and respect for the land and our people. We aim to be recognized as a model of fiscal responsibility and innovation among Indigenous governments—one that continuously strives for excellence while preserving the unique identity and aspirations of the Algonquins of Barriere Lake.
