About Us

The Department of Lands and Natural Resources carries the inherent responsibility of managing and protecting the land, waters, and natural resources within Mitchikonabok Iniik Unceded Territory, located in the Parc la Verendrye.

Mandate

The department is dedicated to developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to land stewardship, ensuring a balance between individual and collective community interests.

Vision

Our goal is to reclaim our rightful role as stewards of the land, waters, environment, and natural resources, in alignment with the ancestral beliefs and traditions of the Anishnabek people of Barrire Lake Unceded Reserve. We strive to create and execute a comprehensive strategy for land stewardship, fostering harmony between personal and shared priorities.
